Philosophy of Education core course as part of MA Education

This is a two part course offered in two different semesters.

To gain a foundational understanding of human beings, their purposes and potential, how education can contribute to better human life, role of knowledge, skills and values in life and in education; and human desires and desirable society – in other words philosophical, socio-political and epistemological moorings of education.

This course explores relational and understanding related aspects of human flourishing in today’s world and its connection with education. In terms of content the course will deal with concept of education, aims of education, issues in curriculum and learning, educational epistemology, moral and aesthetic development; and important ideas in philosophy of education.
